BS EN 16001 Energy Management

Brookvex ECO is one of the first companies to obtain the BS EN 16001 Energy Management accreditation and is scheduled to achieve this by August 2010. Today more than ever, effective energy management is a crucial issue for the success of any business. For many, the answer is an Energy Management System (EnMS) - a framework for the systematic management of energy. As well as enhancing energy efficiency, an EnMS can cut costs and reduce Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions providing you with a competitive advantage. BS EN 16001 represents the latest best practice in energy management building upon existing national standards and initiatives. The standard specifies the requirements for an EnMS to enable Brookvex ECO to consistently practise what we preach.

Environmental Management ISO 14001

The International Standard ISO 14001 sets out requirements for an Environmental Management System (EMS) which can be employed by an organisation to measure and document their environmental impact. EMS's that meet the ISO 14001 requirements can be externally audited and certified by an accredited certification code. The certification body must be accredited by the ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board in the USA, the United Kingdom Accreditation Service, or the National Accreditation Board in Ireland. Certification auditors need to be accredited by the International Registrar of Certification Auditors.

In 2004, the ISO 14001 standard was updated to reflect changes in environmental consciousness. The updated systematic ISO 14001:2004 approach requires the organisation to look at all areas where its activities have an environmental impact. It can lead to benefits such as: reduced cost of waste management; savings in consumption of energy and materials; lower distribution costs; improved corporate image among regulators, customers and the public; and a framework for continual improvement of environmental performance.

Carbon Trust Accreditation Scheme

The Carbon Trust Accreditation Scheme is a robust network providing organisations, working with the Carbon Trust, access to expertise across technical, non-technical, business and change management consultancy.

This independent Accreditation Scheme is a Product-based accreditation scheme that provides accreditation for specific groups of Carbon Trust Products. The scheme comprises six accreditation categories representing groups of related Carbon Trust products:
